METASKINS

This project of futuristic CGI animations serve as an exploration of aesthetic possibilities of the self as we approach the inevitable rise in the digital matrix of the metaverse, nfts, and web3. Artists and participants explore their full digital selves before it has fully infiltrated society and investigate how creating under the framework of a limitless reality manifested through photography and animation, fantasy, and beauty. Each avatar in the series was conceptualized through community collaboration, driving the need for offline artmaking and peer-inspiration. The works experiment with cybernetic enhancements, technological convergence, and potential human presentation in futuristic technological applications.

The collaborative project between creative director and photographer Joebert Tupas and co-produced by Kelly de Geer, animations by Kevin Cruz, and curated by Danielle Paterson. Kevin and Joebert began making together when they met working during the pandemic and were inspired by their community to tailor their subjects' forms in celebration of a new age in queer beauty and fashion and in seek of the digital unknown.
